The Warehouse Before and After

I want to share a renovation project with you guys that hits really close to home. Or work, rather. This is the renovation story of my warehouse, the place where I work when I’m not filming or on the road. It’s such an awesome space, full to the brim of collected pieces, project samples, and cool people.

But it wasn’t always this way. This former mechanic’s shop was pretty rough around the edges when I got my hands on it, but I knew it had the potential to be great.

Check out this video to see what it looked like the first time I saw it:

Once I signed the lease and got the place emptied out, it wasn’t as daunting, but we still had A LOT of work to do.

We started by power washing EVERYTHING (including all the rafters), and then applying a fresh coat of white paint to all the walls. We clear coated the cement floors and the distressed beams overhead.

We added LOTS of lighting and LOTS of fans. (Do you like my high-tech electrical specs?)

The sink and toilet HAD to go because, well….ew.

Once the walls, floors, and ceilings were clean and spiffy, it was time to start turning this space into an office. We needed desks, a conference table, and so much more. I rounded up Brett and made for Ikea.

Add dogs, books, a ginormous wall mural, and some vintage flair

And there you have it. A mechanic shop turned design warehouse. My home away from home.

Just started watching your show – LOVE LOVE LOVE it. There was a smoky blue wall mural you did with a local artist. I’m obsessed. Who was that artist? I would love to hire her to do something like that in our bedroom. Pretty please share her name and contact details?
    Thank you,
