My Favorite Chalk Paint Colors

If you’re like me, you like to kick off the New Year with a bunch of new projects on your to-do list.  I love having a fresh slate, and the New Year offers so many opportunities to try something new or freshen something up.  A lot of my projects involve DIY stuff I’ve wanted to try out, and one of my favorite quick update DIYs is painting a piece of furniture to make it feel new and different.  In Season 2 Episode 3 of my HGTV show HELP! I Wrecked My House, I painted this piano above in “English Yellow” chalk paint by Annie Sloan.  Painting the piano gave it a whole new life and energy for the homeowners, and all it cost me was a can of paint and some time.  I love using chalk paint because there’s usually no need to sand or prime whatever you’re painting.  Besides the yellow color I used for the piano, I have some other colors I’ve been eyeing for my New Year projects.  I’m sharing my favorite chalk paint colors below in case they can help you tackle your own fun DIY projects!

This post was right on time. I purchased an old round table that has casters on the legs from A Second Chance in Baltimore, MD. I sanded it, intending to re-stain it, but after reading your blog, I am going to try chalk paint. Never used it before but I love the look. Thank you, Jasmine. Happy New Year!🥳

  2. Nona Young

I want to use white chalk paint on my kitchen cabinets so there is no sanding. Do I have to wax after I paint them or can I just paint them with the chalk paint? Also, once painted is there anything i need to do so they feel smooth to the touch?
