My Baby’s Feeding & Nap Schedule: My Favorite Tips & Tricks

If you’d told me I’d be eating 3 meals a day with my 8-month-old baby (plus feeding her a 4 bottles a day) I wouldn’t have believed you!  But alas, here we are, and I can’t wait to share all the details and answer all your questions about Hazel’s 6-9 month feeding schedule.  So for those of you who’ve been with me for a while, you’ll remember that I started this whole feeding journey right at 6 months.  We decided to go with a technique called “Baby-Led Weaning,” and now that we’re 3 months in, we LOVE IT!

Hazel started eating solid food as soon as we were cleared with our pediatrician at 6 months.  For all you new parents out there, I’m sure you’re in the same boat as we were, and we were like “okay, what now?”  So after a great class with @newmomschool, an online seminar by @silverspoonnutrition, and a book on Baby-Led Weaning – we were ready to get started.  Fast forward 3 months and we’re well into our feeding routine.  For those that follow me on Instagram and Facebook, you get to see Hazel eating ALL THE FOODS.  Oh, and you can follow Hazel on Instagram for even more pics and videos.  Just to list a few of the things she likes to eat off the top of my head: chicken, broccoli, crab cakes, bison, turkey, green beans, sweet potatoes, blueberries, toast with almond butter, peanut butter sandwiches, cheddar cheese, salmon, avocado, banana, and the list goes ON AND ON!

The cool thing about Baby-Led Weaning is that you don’t have to make a separate meal for your baby (think purees and weird ingredients you don’t already have) because they eat the same simple things you eat.  Well, as long as you eat pretty healthy already.  No french fries or grilled cheese for my baby!  The other cool thing is that you don’t have to worry about how much they eat (or throw on the floor) because up until they’re 1 year old, the entire purpose of sitting down to feed your baby is for the experience.  They’re developing their relationship with food and you’re there to facilitate, but not to push.  So yeah, the whole “here comes the airplane” thing that our parents did with us – we don’t have to do that!  Being able to sit with Hazel and watch her eat has been such a joy for Brett and me.  So if you’re just getting started with feeding your little one, or you’ve already started, here’s what’s working for us…

Does Hazel have another bottle in between 11 am and 7 pm? Our baby is 9.5 months and we are also doing BLW. He has a bottle about every 3 hrs, but the amount is going down as his food intake increases…I’m thinking I need to stretch out the bottles more so he has less bottles but drinks more at each feeding?

P.S love seeing all the food Hazel is eating! Please keep sharing!

How many ounces of milk does Hazel get on her 8 month schedule?
