Hazel’s First Trip to Disneyland!

You guys!  I took Hazel Bean to Disneyland last week and it was so much fun!  There’s so much to share, so I figured I’d write it all down while it’s fresh in my mind.  Let’s talk about Hazel’s first trip to Disneyland!

So for those of you that don’t know, I grew up in Virginia, which means I visited Disney World as a kid, and I’ve only been to Disneyland a handful of times.  So yeah, I’m no expert when it comes to Disneyland but I asked all my friends (and Brett since he’s from Southern California) for advice and read a couple blog posts before planning our trip.  They usually have a Disneyland Local Season Pass, but it hasn’t come back since last year.  So we bought tickets for a single day and made a reservation at the same time.  It wasn’t hard to get a reservation and we only had to wear masks on the parking shuttle and rides that went inside.

So full disclosure, Hazel is 15 months old and hasn’t ever watched TV, which means her Disney knowledge is limited.  I bought her a super cute Minnie Mouse Sweatshirt from Target and showed it to her every day before the trip so she would be excited.  It totally worked!  We arrived at 7:30 am so it wasn’t hot or crowded when we went through the entrance.  We headed straight to the castle, and Hazel was so excited!

Since I know you’re gonna ask, her precious little tutu is from Plum NYC and it’s such great quality!  And of course she’s matching her momma in some cute little high-top Vans 🙂

Is it just me, or does this little peanut look SO GROWN UP in these photos?!  You guys know I work a TON and being able to take a Monday morning away from my phone, away from my computer, away from my jobsites – just me and my girl (and Minnie Mouse!) was exactly what this momma needed.

Then it was time for rides!  Hazel’s first ride was the beautiful carousel right inside the park.  She watched it go around once so she knew what we were getting into and was so excited to see the “horses.”  I stood next to her and strapped her onto her horse.  She absolutely loved this ride!!!

The next ride was the teacups!  When I think of little kids at Disneyland, this is what I think of.  That said, I get SUPER car sick, so I made sure my teacup didn’t spin a bunch.  I will say, they go pretty fast and it was really fun!

We also rode Winnie the Pooh, but since that was in indoor ride, we didn’t take many photos inside.  It was pretty trippy and dark, but Hazel loved it!  We decided to save the Dumbo ride for next time, it seemed a little big for this little girl.

Oh and don’t forget her first set of glitter Minnie Mouse ears!  Have you ever seen anything so cute?!

And in case you were wondering, here are my top tips for taking your 15 month old to Disneyland:

  • Bring a stroller that lays flat so your baby can nap.  Just know you’ll have to fold it up on the parking shuttle.  I brought a backpack diaper bag and our stroller that easily folds up.
  • Pack lots of water and snacks.  You can bring in pretty much anything, they’ll just check your bags at security.  This is Hazel’s favorite water cup right now.
  • And of course, take lots of photos!  My motto – you’ll never regret taking too many photos and how cute will these photos be when Hazel’s a teenager and I’m dropping her and her friends off at Disneyland?!  I can’t even imagine, even though I know it’s going to be way too soon.  Until then, she gets to take photos with mom!

How fun! I look forward to seeing the pictures of Hazel growing up. She makes me smile, even when I’m having a bad day. There’s no such thing as too many pictures. Looking back on those memories will be such a blessing.
