5 Reasons Why I Love This Kind of Flooring

Flooring – it seems like a pretty straight-forward material to pick for your home, but it’s not always that simple.  When you combine all the aesthetic choices with what kind of material will work best for your home, the possibilities are truly endless.  But I use the same kind of flooring in about 99% of all my home projects, and nope, it’s not hardwood.  It’s Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring.  If you’re like, “What?  Seriously?” hear me out, guys.  I’ve found that this type of flooring works for almost all kinds of people and almost all kinds of homes, and it looks just like a beautiful hardwood.  Because allow me to let you in on another little secret: hardwood flooring is easy to damage.

Here are the 5 reasons why I pick luxury vinyl flooring for almost every project I do!

1. It’s Durable

Perhaps the biggest and most important reason I use this material so often is because luxury vinyl flooring is super durable and waterproof.  Hardwood floors, not so much.  But if you have kids and pets, or a lot of foot traffic in general in your home, luxury vinyl flooring is the way to go. Here’s what I used in the kitchen above.

2. It’s Pretty

Luxury vinyl flooring is designed to have the look of real wood, and let me tell you, it really does.  No one would ever know it’s vinyl (if you pick the right kind)!  Here’s the one I used in the picture above.

3. It’s Affordable

Like… WAY cheaper than hardwood flooring.  Especially if you have a lot of space to cover, using luxury vinyl flooring will be a lot more budget-friendly.  Need I say more?!  Here’s the flooring I used above.

4. It’s Fireproof

There are a lot of brands that make fireproof luxury vinyl flooring, which is great peace of mind for your home.  This is the type I used above.

5. It’s Easy to Install

Luxury Vinyl Flooring is extremely easy to install, and sometimes a professional installer is not necessarily needed if you’re really handy.  Installing is also glue-less, so that’s another win! Here’s what I used above.

Just had vinyl plank installed on the entire lower level of our condo. Looks similar to the second picture above. At first I thought it was too dark, but the more I see it the more I love it. Had to move down here while contractors are working on the gutted main floor.

Amo seu estilo e tudo o que você faz. Obrigada pela dica do piso. Quero colocar na minha casa pra deixar mais aconchegante mas precisava de uma opinião de quem entende. Agora já decidi.

This product sounds great. A good option for beach towns for sure. Do you have a good retailer for the Provenza products in the Huntington Beach area/OC? Thanks for all of your inspiring posts!

Hi Jasmine. Sorry for the late comment. We love and have used vinyl plank in several of our flip homes.
I have a question (think I know the answer but wanted your insight), can vinyl planking be installed in a herringbone pattern?
    Thx for any input
